:The new hydrogen compressor (four columns, three stages) makes a \"creaking\" sound from the inlet valve every time it is started; the sound is not continuous but intermittent, and this is particularly noticeable in one of the stages. :During each inspection, no obvious abnormalities were found in the air valves; some had slight leaks or even no leaks at all. The inlet buffer tank was also checked and no foreign objects were detected :dizzy:. As a person specializing in equipment, I can only say that it’s possible for the air valves to draw in debris during operation, causing temporary sticking of the valve elements, but once the debris is carried away by the airflow, everything returns to normal :dizzy:. Parameters such as air volume, pressure, and temperature are all within normal ranges, with no significant changes, so it doesn’t affect performance at all :'( However, the managers find this noise bothersome; they believe that since there is noise, there must be a problem that needs to be addressed :) Therefore, I hope fellow experts can offer some suggestions or help with diagnosis. PS: The valve elements of the intake valve are made of PEEK engineering plastic
The gas valve gasket is not properly compressed; in other words, some of the set screws do not tighten the valve cover sufficiently, or the gasket isn’t sealed properly. As a result, air flow that does not pass through the valve core may cause abnormal noises! You might as well give it a try
There are impurities stuck in the valve disc. It will get better in a while.
Also, sometimes it is found that the oil injection pipeline is loose, and lubricant enters from within the valve chamber, which may also cause abnormal noises
The set screws are all tightened properly; it doesn’t sound like the noise caused by a valve moving. It seems rather like there’s something stuck in the valve leaf, causing that loud grinding noise
If it is confirmed that there is no problem with the steam inlet valve, make the following improvements: install a filter and a drain valve at the inlet (to remove water regularly during operation), set up a start-up drain valve (connected in parallel with the drain valve), and drain the condensate from the inlet pipeline before starting up the equipment.
The same is true when we use carbon dioxide compressors; the final conclusion is that the moisture content in the gas is too high, for reference only
Thickening the air valve with iron gaskets and compacting it might eliminate the noise!
Is the air valve stuck due to impurities?
The higher probability is due to the high water content in the medium
