Recently, the extruder condition monitoring application, developed under the leadership of Maoming Petrochemical in collaboration with institutions such as the China National Research Institute of Mechanical Science, Beijing University of Chemical Technology, and Beijing Research Institute of Chemical Technology, passed the acceptance assessment by the group company. This application is the first intelligent system in China’s petrochemical industry dedicated to the condition monitoring and fault prediction of extruders, marking a significant step forward for China’s petrochemical sector in terms of the intelligent operation and maintenance of heavy equipment as well as the integrated use of the industrial Internet. This application focuses on the full-life-cycle health management of extruders, which are key moving equipment in the petrochemical industry. Maoming Petrochemical integrated the real-time data from 8 extruders into this application, successfully establishing a multi-dimensional monitoring system and overcoming the challenges associated with predicting extruder failures; this laid the foundation for ensuring autonomous control over the key components of these machines. Since its trial deployment, the application has successfully detected potential failures in the equipment, guiding more than 30 on-site inspections; it has reduced the workload for frontline operators and effectively prevented unplanned shutdowns.
