Screw air compressors require regular maintenance. Many air compressor users think it’s some kind of scam. So why is maintenance necessary, and what are the consequences of not carrying out maintenance on a regular basis? What are the hazards?
Result of irregular maintenance ❂ Irregular cleaning of the air filter leads to its clogging, resulting in a reduced amount of air intake and, consequently, a reduced amount of exhaust air as well. ❂ If the oil filter is not replaced periodically, the pressure difference before and after it increases, the flow of oil decreases, the temperature of the main unit rises causing it to shut down. If the pressure difference becomes too great, it can lead to damage; contaminants may enter the unit and clog the oil separation element, resulting in wear and damage to the main unit. ❂ If the oil separation element is not replaced periodically, the pressure difference before and after it increases, the current drawn by the main motor rises, and the exhaust volume decreases. If the pressure difference before and after becomes too large, causing breakdown, lubricating oil and air enter the pipeline, which leads to an increase in the temperature of the main unit and its shutdown. ❂ If the oil pipe connectors are not cleaned and become clogged, a small amount of oil remains after separation; this oil enters the pipeline along with air, resulting in significant oil loss and a shortage of oil. ❂ The main motor’s bearings are lubricated from time to time, and the same is done for the motor’s bearings; however, the bearings wear out until the main motor gets damaged.
It can be seen that to maintain screw air compressors, it is necessary to do so in the same way as maintaining cars, so that they can perform better for you. Therefore, regular maintenance of air compressors should include the following: first, replacing and cleaning the air filter. Second, replace the oil filter. Third, replace the oil filter element. Fourth, replace the lubricating oil regularly. Fifth, pay special attention to the cooling system. Timely and effective maintenance can reduce production costs to a certain extent, thereby improving economic benefits and production efficiency. Reposted from: Air Compressor Network
If the air compressor is not located in a dedicated \"utility\" workshop, it won’t receive proper maintenance; at most, tasks like replacing the air filter or cleaning it are carried out. I hope those who have experience in such maintenance can provide some detailed instructions
3# has covered everything very thoroughly; if you have any further questions, you can check the maintenance manual.
