What are the reasons for wear of the big bearing shells in reciprocating machines? Discovered during maintenance; it was still in operation before, and it’s unknown when the wear occurred – there were no obvious abnormalities.
It can be detected during inspections, as well as the temperature of the bearing shells.
Our previous compressors’ large bearing shells would often peel off; even when the manufacturer was called in, the problem wasn’t resolved, yet there were no abnormalities during operation.
There must be an improvement in the quality of abnormal inspections…
May I ask which manufacturer makes your compressors?
Check whether there are any issues with the compressor’s installation, and whether the bearing shells have been damaged.
1. The oil is not in place, or the oil pressure is insufficient; 2. There are impurities ; 3. There is a brief abnormal load ; 4. Product quality issues.
The bearing shells are all worn out; the temperature of the bearing shells should change, right? And shouldn’t the vibration levels also change?
Contact the manufacturer to resolve this issue; Second, the manufacturer is required to provide performance data and send personnel for on-site inspections to see if similar equipment has the same issues. Finally, look for the reasons from the perspective of internal usage. Such as oil quality, oil temperature control, clearance of the installed cylinder, and the cooling efficiency of the cylinder. It’s best to send a video so that the cause can be identified more accurately. Usually, the wear factor is the possibility of a problem with the lubricating oil.
