The pump’s mechanical seal water pipe is used to cool the contact surfaces of the rotating and stationary rings; if this water pipe is not used, the temperature rises too high, which may cause the mechanical seal to deform due to the high temperature. Prone to internal leakage, external leakage? I’m a bit confused now; I don’t know what the moving and stationary rings are, and what part does the mechanical seal serve to seal?
A mechanical seal is a shaft sealing device for rotating machinery. Since the drive shaft passes through both the inside and outside of the equipment, there is a circumferential gap between the shaft and the equipment, through which the medium inside the equipment can leak out. Generally, in a single-face mechanical seal, once there is a leak, it can be seen from the outside, so internal leakage is not possible.

If cooling water is not used, it will cause dry friction between the rotating and stationary rings, leading to internal leakage. If your mechanical seal is a single-face seal, there will be external leakage
Whether it’s an internal leak or an external leak depends on which side has higher pressure
