Recently, during a parking inspection, it was found that the diaphragm of the coupling had suffered partial fracture and damage. This induced draft fan has only been in use for half a year, and its vibration levels are within the acceptable range. We suspect that there may be an issue with the material of the diaphragm. Question: For diaphragm couplings in rotating equipment, what material is generally used for the diaphragm? Additionally, what material membrane offers the best fatigue resistance? Longest service life?
The diaphragm is usually made of stainless steel; check whether the quality of your assembly is satisfactory. In general, diaphragm couplings are very durable. Also, try using a different diaphragm coupling next time.

Most cases of damage to the coupling diaphragm are caused by poor shaft alignment. Please check the alignment carefully.
The coupling of the fan must be specially designed; inform the manufacturer that it is intended for use with a fan, as it requires a large number of bolts. It’s not the reason for misalignment.
