As the dividing and connecting point between the steam system and the condensate system, the steam trap is crucial for the stable operation and efficiency of the steam system. Steam trap leakage is one of the main causes of low efficiency in steam systems. Statistics from China’s energy sector as well as empirical data from Watt Energy Saving show that approximately one-third of the steam traps currently in use are leaking, to varying degrees. According to the Chinese steam trap standard GB/T12712-1991, it is required that the integrity rate of steam traps be over 90%. It is clear that we are still far from the standard. Steam traps are designed to separate the condensate from the mixture of steam and condensate under high pressure and discharge it, thereby preventing the leakage of fresh steam. Steam traps must function both as pressure (vessel) components and as precision mechanical devices, and they need to be able to operate under harsh conditions over extended periods of time. They require sufficient strength and durability. Watts’ factory standards also include hydraulic tests, operation tests, and durability tests to evaluate the performance of these traps.
Good steam traps are really hard to find, because the definition of “good” is: 1. Stable operating conditions; 2. Long fault-free operation period ; 3. Good adaptability to operating conditions ; 4. Fair price~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The quality of domestically produced check valves varies greatly; most of them operate unstably and have a high failure rate.
The check valves purchased by the procurement department cost several hundred yuan each, and they break down after a short time of use. Few people buy high-quality, expensive steam traps, and they just can’t be sold.
