Screw air compressors provide high-quality compressed air for various industries, thanks to their advantages such as high performance, efficiency, maintenance-free operation, and high reliability! However, failing to carry out regular maintenance can cause significant damage to these screw air compressors. Here are the five major hazards of failing to perform maintenance: 1. Failing to apply grease to the bearings of the main motor in screw air compressors on a regular basis. Consequence: This leads to shaft wear until the motor gets damaged. II. Failure to replace the oil filter in screw air compressors on a regular basis Consequences: As the pressure difference between the inlet and outlet increases, less oil flows through the system, which leads to an increase in the exhaust temperature of the compressor and eventual shutdown. If the pressure difference becomes too great, contaminants can enter the compressor, clogging the oil separation element and causing wear to the compressor’s components. III. Failure to clean the oil return pipe in screw air compressors: Consequence – Once blocked, a small amount of oil will enter the pipeline along with the air, resulting in significant oil loss. IV. Failing to replace the air filter element in screw air compressors and failing to clean it regularly Consequence: The air filter element becomes clogged, resulting in a reduced air intake volume and, accordingly, a reduced exhaust volume as well. Failing to replace it can also lead to an increase in negative pressure that causes breakdown, contaminants entering the machine, deterioration of the oil separation element and cooling lubricant, clogging of the oil filter, and wear on the main engine. V. Failing to replace the oil separation element in screw air compressors Consequence: The situation is the same as when the oil filter is not replaced; as the pressure difference between the inlet and outlet increases, the current drawn by the main motor rises, and the volume of air discharged decreases. If this pressure difference becomes too large, the cooling lubricant will enter the pipeline along with the air until it is exhausted, which in turn causes the exhaust temperature of the compressor to rise and leads to shutdown. If this water is not drained on time, it will overflow and flow into the oil tank of the screw air compressor as well as into the system. Prolonged exposure to such conditions can lead to damage to the compressor’s bearings or even cause the compressor to seize. To avoid unnecessary losses, air compressor users are advised to drain the water from the storage tank regularly.
