I would like to ask the experts at Haichuan: I am just starting to learn about *expander machines. What is the pressure-boosting capacity of the compressor section in a turbine expander? What are the inlet and outlet pressure ranges of the booster? Can the outlet pressure at the booster section reach 8-9 MPa (gauge pressure)?
You mentioned many application areas for expanders; I’m curious to know what specific projects they are used in. Generally, although the expander and the booster share the same shaft, they are actually two separate devices. In particular, its role in the process should be divided into two devices. An expander is a refrigeration device, while a booster is a pressurization device. The power source for pressurization is the energy output by the expander; as for the pressure that can be achieved, it depends on how much of the energy it outputs can be converted into the necessary amount of energy to meet the desired parameters. The higher the pressure, the less air volume is obtained. There are even additional mechanical losses, which makes it not worth it. Energy recovery has its limits and must be determined based on actual conditions. For example, to output high-pressure gas, a low-speed, piston-type booster is required.
