The manual for the American Wanner HY series multi-plunger diaphragm pumps specifies the use of SAE10W-40 engine oil, while we are currently using Mobil 1140 lubricant. Does this meet the requirements?
Machine oil is not about its appearance, but rather its formula. Only the brand and product number of the lubricant are available, which makes it impossible to select a suitable substitute accurately. This requires formulating an appropriate lubricant based on the usage requirements, and certain special additives must also be taken into account.
According to you, lubricants are no longer generic items but need to be designed separately for each type of operating condition? Is it required that the design institute or equipment supplier provide a lubrication design manual for the equipment, and then the user has to use that manual to approach lubricant manufacturers to order the necessary products? Given the different operating conditions, loads, and environments of various machines, it’s only natural to use different types of lubricants. You can find out by checking the classification codes for lubricants used in gasoline engines as defined by the Society of Automotive Engineers in the United States. The name you wrote is simply a lubricant for gasoline engines. There are countless types of lubricants. The lubricant in use does not necessarily have to be custom-made, but its performance requirements must be clearly understood.
I mean, if the instructions specify the use of lubricant that meets ISO standards, how do you know which SAE grade corresponds to it?
