The outlet buffer tank of the standby reciprocating pump is always filled with liquid; it falls under categories C4 and C5, and the temperature is 40. How can this issue be resolved?

The liquid present in the buffer tank at the outlet of the standby unit is most likely C4C5 that flows back from the outlet of the operating compressor. It’s possible that there is an internal leak in the valve at the outlet of the standby unit; when the pressure of C4C5 exceeds 0.4 MPa, a liquid phase is formed, and reducing the pressure can help resolve this issue

From a process perspective, what are the main components of the gas delivered by your compressor? What proportion does C4C5 account for? Calculate the partial pressure to see if it is higher than the saturated vapor pressure of C4C5 at 40°C. Given that C4C5 has a high density and does not flow well, and the inlet to the standby unit remains open, there may be deposition, which could lead to an increase in the C4C5 content at the inlet of the standby unit and subsequent condensation. Consider closing the valve at the inlet of the standby unit so that its pressure drops below 0.6 MPa before it is put into use.
