When the shaft breaks, it is necessary to consider whether the operating point is within the designed operating range. I have encountered the problem of shaft breakage due to the pump operating at a low flow rate for extended periods. The designed flow rate of the pump is 160 cubic meters per hour, but the actual flow rate was less than 80 cubic meters per hour; this led to frequent shaft breaks. Things improved significantly after replacing the impeller. If it operates outside the design operating conditions, the shaft will be subjected to additional radial forces, leading to shaft failure.
