It causes the water flow to spread in an umbrella shape, increasing the evaporation area and making it easier for heat to be lost. :)
It prevents the circulating water from various directions from causing pressure buildup in the main pipeline, and it can also serve to protect the equipment at the front end to some extent; when the water pressure is high, the open opening allows the water flow to be released.
For a cooling tower to achieve optimal heat dissipation, there is a specific range for the water spray density, which corresponds to the designed flow rate of the tower. Both below and above this flow range will reduce the heat exchange efficiency of the tower. This backflow design can be understood, firstly, in terms of the views expressed by the various users above, and secondly, it serves as a warning when the flow rate is too high and water overflows.
