Warranty matters: High temperature alarm for the bearing at the drive end of Generator No. 2. Warranty ticket number: Electrical E-033. Date: 20180626. Equipment manufacturer: Description of the fault phenomenon (please attach pictures if necessary): 1. The cabin temperature is 44°; at 14:37 today, a high temperature alarm was triggered at 83° for the drive end of Generator No. 2, which resulted in a Class II fault and prompted the activation of the backup Generator No. 1. 2. Upon observation, the temperature at the free end of generator #2 was 69°, while it was 83° at the drive end; the temperature difference between the two was 14°. 3. The drive end and the free end have the same rotational speed and similar ambient temperatures; such a large temperature difference in the bearings indicates a fault in the bearings of the drive end. 4. There are high-temperature faults in the drive end of the 2# auxiliary machine and the free end of the 3# auxiliary machine, resulting in a lack of safety assurance. Additionally, the bearing temperature of Generator No. 3 is very high, and the bearing temperatures at both the drive and non-drive ends of these three generators are also on the high side. Here are some of the statistics: Generator cabin temperature (°C), drive side temperature (°C), non-drive side temperature (°C), load (KW). NO.1: 31.5, 61, 54, 400; 41, 69, 60, 465. NO.2: 31.5, 66, 56, 390; 44, 83 – alarm at 62, 515. NO.3: 31, 59, 75, 295; 33.5, 70 – alarm when temperature exceeds 80°C; 430 – action required (repair or supply of spare parts, etc.). A service engineer should be sent aboard to carry out repairs, replace the bearing shells, and resolve the high-temperature issue
First, check whether there is a problem with the temperature sensor. If there is no issue, shut down the machine and inspect the wear on the bearing shells at the drive end; at temperatures around 80 degrees, peeling should occur on the surface of these bearing shells.
