Why is PTFE used for the pre-seal of screw compressors?

The medium gas for the screw compressor is shown in the diagram. The pre-seal gas seals that I had seen before were made of aluminum, but those I saw this time were made of PTFE; it’s likely not a matter of cost savings, as PTFE is more expensive than aluminum. Is there a skilled worker here?
