During the turbine testing, only one of the four vibration points of the centrifuge exhibited excessive vibration at the transcritical point, triggering an automatic shutdown. Even after replacing the instruments and sensing probes, the situation remained unsatisfactory; the manufacturer does not attribute this to a problem with the machine itself. Do any experts have any viable solutions?
First of all, it should be clear that the centrifuge you mentioned is probably two different names for the same device, namely a turbine:) Usually, the device manufacturer and the installation unit are not the same company; either there are installation issues that the manufacturer does not acknowledge, or the manufacturer can provide on-site supervision and guidance. And each step requires relevant data for verification. The only effective solution is coordinated communication within the project; as stipulated in the contract, each party is responsible for its own issues. For example. During installation, the installing party must have the supervision of the supplier present, and measure and verify each installation step until the installation is completed. If there are more problems, it will have to be resolved by the production unit. If the installation unit fails to meet the requirements for each individual component, it is the problem of the installation unit. As long as the issues are clearly defined, someone will take responsibility. This is a problem of project management, not a technical analysis issue.
In my opinion: The gauge is correct. If a true interlock shutdown occurs, there should be a noticeable vibration sensation at the site; moreover, with vibration probes installed at 90 degrees to each other, it is impossible for only one probe to exhibit high vibration levels while the other remains unchanged!
Data speaks volumes; only then is it persuasive
How long is the turbine warm-up time? What is the vibration condition during warm-up in each section?
It’s not about assigning blame to either side; the main issue is that the cause cannot be identified. It has been running for some time now, and it’s working much better than before
Mm-hmm, the people on site didn’t feel any shaking; the vibration level was in the micrometer range. There were no major issues during the period of vibration
The warm-up time is 50 degrees Celsius per hour, reaching 300 degrees; there are no abnormal vibrations during warm-up
The instruments should be calibrated together, right? There’s nothing to try
Oh, if that’s the case, it proves even more a problem with installation. If a disassembly inspection is done now, the worn surfaces outside the shaft will be obvious at a glance.
