How to determine the protection class and insulation class of a motor?
First, identify the hazardous gases present at the site. Based on these gases, select explosion-proof electrical equipment with the appropriate explosion-proof rating; for example, in ordinary factories, ExdIIBT4 rated explosion-proof electrical equipment is sufficient. If acetylene is present, then ExdIICT4 rated equipment is needed, and if combustible dust is present, dust-proof explosion-proof electrical equipment should be used
For such issues, it is best to go to the equipment department or the safety and environmental protection department at your workplace to find relevant information; they will provide you with a proper explanation. China uses a method equivalent to that of IEC for classifying explosive-hazardous areas. **Standard GB 50058-92 specifies that explosive gas hazardous areas are classified into three levels – Zone 0, Zone 1, and Zone 2 – depending on their degree of hazard, while explosive dust hazardous areas are divided into two levels – Zone 10 and Zone 11. The explosion protection rating and fire hazard rating for the area seem to be classified differently

This national standard has strict regulations, especially regarding safety; not the slightest carelessness is allowed. The process and electrical departments of the design firm determine this in accordance with the standards.
