I encountered a three-stage air compressor, and the second-stage impeller was vibrating loudly. After removing the pipe, I found that two blades of the impeller were bent. Can you analyze the reason?

Looking at the pictures, there seems to be no impact marks on the surface, so it should not be caused by foreign matter. The blades are thin and prone to bending due to force. Has the machine experienced surge or is filled with water?

Even surge will not cause the impeller to bend like this. It should be caused by interstage turbulence.
Judging from the irregular damage situation, surge is the most likely cause. If there are foreign objects, there will be scratches, and if there are abnormal noises left during installation, they will appear during the test run.
Which manufacturer is this from? Is it not equipped with surge protection?
What about gas temperature changes? Did the vibration slowly increase during previous runs? We cannot rule out the possibility that it was slightly deformed at the beginning and then gradually became larger.
There are no scratches on the blades. The damage to each blade is quite different, whether it contains water or whether there is surge.
