When I took measurements, the vibration values on the sides and at the top were different; which one should be used to get an accurate reading?
Vibration measurement using instruments requires measuring at the locations specified by the equipment’s usage requirements. Such instruments are like stethoscopes and electrocardiographs. Two values, longitudinal and transverse, are measured; they are merely data, which must be checked against the specified values to determine whether they fall within the acceptable range.
The values measured from the top and from the sides are different; in some cases the vibration value is higher when measured from the top, while in other cases it is higher when measured from the sides
GB/T10895 \"Centrifuges and Separators – Methods for Testing Mechanical Vibration\" specifies the testing of vibration in the XYZ directions; the root mean square value of the measured vibration velocity is used, with the maximum value being defined as the intensity of vibration of the equipment.
Horizontal and vertical are inherently different, and the issues reflected by the measured values are also distinct
Vibration is definitely measured at the bearings; for each bearing position, axial, horizontal, and vertical vibrations are measured. Finally, the maximum value is taken for evaluation.
Just like with temperature, taking the maximum value is sufficient.
