I haven’t heard of that term; piston rings are also called expansion rings. Do you mean a spring leaf?
The piston ring has a sealing ring and a support ring – which one are you referring to?
It’s the metal ring underneath the piston ring; is it called an elastic ring?
When the cylinder diameter is large, there is a steel ring at the bottom of the piston ring (not the support ring); in the static state this ring is larger than the cylinder diameter, which keeps the piston ring in close contact with the cylinder wall. As for the degree of opening and the design of the static outer diameter, these are technical details that require consultation with professionals
Here we call it an expansion ring. Its purpose is to provide additional expansion inside the piston ring, when the pressure difference on either side of the piston is too low for the piston ring to expand sufficiently to fulfill its sealing function; when installing it, make sure that the opening is offset from the piston ring. If the elasticity is low, just pull it outward~ I don’t think whether there’s an expansion ring or not has much impact on the diameter; it mainly depends on the pressure difference. However, generally, the larger the piston diameter, the lower the pressure.
