For transporting lump coal within a company, is it feasible to use belt conveyors in order to reduce coal fragmentation and be more environmentally friendly? What are the requirements of belt conveyors regarding conveying distance and layout?
Circular tube belt conveyors are a type of special belt conveyor that has been developed on the basis of traditional trough-type belt conveyors. It is a device that uses a set of idler rollers to guide the flat conveyor belt into a tubular shape, enclosing the material within this circular tube and thus enabling closed-cone transportation along the conveying path. At present, circular tube belt conveyors have been widely used both at home and abroad. Due to its unique structural design, the circular tube belt conveyor possesses many distinct features. 1. The conveyor belt used in circular tube belt conveyors is similar to ordinary conveyor belts; therefore, it fits well with users’ existing usage habits and is easily accepted by them ; 2. The circular tube belt conveyor employs a fully enclosed conveying system, which prevents external contaminants from mixing with the material being transported. It also protects the material from damage caused by rain or sunlight. In principle, this setup avoids issues such as material leakage or spillage, thus meeting environmental requirements. 3. The circular tube belt conveyor allows for flexible layout design; it can make turns in three-dimensional spaces with small radii, thereby eliminating the need for intermediate transfer stations as well as the associated investment costs and maintenance expenses for auxiliary equipment ; It is particularly suitable for constructing conveyor lines in spaces with limited dimensions or in complex environments with obstacles ; It reduces the transportation distance and lowers the project cost ; 4. The frame width of the circular tube conveyor is small. By using a circular cross-section to transport materials, the circular pipe conveyor achieves a large effective conveying area with a relatively low bandwidth. With the same conveying cross-sectional area, if a circular tube conveyor is used, the width can be reduced to 1/3 of the original value. This reduces the space requirements during civil construction, decreases steel consumption, and lowers costs and labor time ; 5. It enables transportation at large inclination angles. The lifting angle of a conventional trough-type belt conveyor can only reach around 18°, whereas in a circular tube belt conveyor, since the conveyor belt transports the material inside a tube, this increases the friction between the material and the belt, allowing for a higher lifting angle. The Bin-type belt conveyors currently in use can achieve an inclination of up to 30° for conveying; some have also proposed using circular tube belt conveyors for vertical lifting ; 4 6. Two-way material transport can be easily achieved. Since the circular tube belt conveyor uses a closed tubular conveying system in both the carrying section and the return section, it is still possible to transport materials during the return phase, and intermediate feeding can be carried out at any point by opening or closing the conveyor belt ;
