What are the pipes and disks on the blower for?

I have two questions for everyone: 1. There is a disk installed on the shaft of the blower – what is its purpose? Is it a balance disc? 2. What is the purpose of using a hose to connect the two ends of the blower shaft? Is it a balance tube?
Is this tube considered a type of gas seal? The leaking gas is directed towards the inlet; is this disk meant to prevent the leaking gas from entering the bearing box? Guessing; P
We have a booster fan for flue gas desulfurization; the leaking gas blew into the bearing housing on the opposite side, causing the lubricating oil in that housing to be blown out and resulting in the bearings running dry and breaking apart. Adding such a disc resolved the issue. :lol

It’s essentially about addressing the pressure related to air leakage; it’s not a problem with ordinary air, but it’s very necessary to have such a mechanism for other types of gases.
When the fan’s seal leaks, try to minimize air leakage outward, as the inlet is under negative pressure; most of the leaked air will return to the fan’s inlet through the hose
Actually, I’m not sure yet whether the labyrinth seal on the fan shaft is pressurized or vacuum-operated. If it is inflatable, and the other end of the hose is connected to the fan inlet where the pressure is low, how can air be pumped into the seal? If it is for inhalation, the gas being delivered through the pipeline needs to have a specific oxygen content; inhaling would result in an excess of oxygen. Moreover, if it is for inhalation, then what is the purpose of a wind shield? I’ve been struggling with it.
The hose is connected to the fan inlet via an air seal, which draws in the gas that leaks from the air seal into the fan inlet, thereby preventing large amounts of gas from leaking out. The circular disc serves as a baffle to prevent the leaked gas from flowing into the bearing box and damaging the bearings; it also provides some insulation.
