In a York screw chiller, when it shuts down due to an excessive level of Freon in the evaporator, the sight glass shows that the liquid level is full. When the load is low and the unit operates for a long time, the liquid level in the sight glass remains normal and cooling is carried out properly. However, once the load on the unit increases, the liquid level can no longer be seen, and cooling efficiency drops significantly. I’m wondering what the possible reasons for this situation could be: is it a lack of Freon, a malfunction in the Freon return valve, or something else? I’m really worried
In my opinion, when faced with such problems, the first thing to do is to carry out what can be done, such as cleaning the water filter in the condenser. If the problem cannot be resolved, and in-depth repairs are not sufficient, it is better to contact the manufacturer as soon as possible for assistance; they have expertise in this area and offer a one-year warranty for such repairs. The York chiller should have a PLC control cabinet with a display menu on it. It is possible to check the temperature and vibration, including the temperatures of the refrigerant in various locations. There are many reasons for no cooling, including insufficient cooling water, among others. And a lack of cooling water is not visible on the display screen
This phenomenon is likely due to a low level of Freon. You can check the liquid level of Freon inside the condenser when the machine is shut down, and also examine the sight glass for liquid supply under high load conditions; if there are many bubbles, it means there is insufficient Freon
The liquid level setting is inappropriate, the opening degree of the supply valve is insufficient; most likely, there is a system leak resulting in a lack of refrigerant
I don’t really understand either; what I say might not be correct. Shouldn’t there be no liquid left in the evaporator after the unit is shut down? Otherwise, the pipes might freeze. Has the supply valve failed to shut off? Under high load, the compressor draws in refrigerant too quickly, emptying the evaporator of it; naturally, there is no liquid level left and cooling ceases. Is it because there’s a leak in the system (not enough Freon), or was the wrong size chosen from the start? It could also be an electrical issue with the control system; for example, if the coil that controls the liquid supply valve fails, the liquid supply cannot be shut off.
Full-liquid evaporator? It’s likely that the flow rate of the liquid supplied by the supply valve is insufficient.
What is the value of the evaporator liquid level in the settings? Could it be the reason why it cannot come out of the condenser?
