Our company has a hot air blower with an operating temperature of 260°C. The shaft of the inlet damper often gets stuck due to inadequate bearing lubrication; we have tried two different types of high-temperature greases available on the market, but in all cases they carbonized and turned into a thick, solid substance. I would like to ask fellow sailors for their experience with the use of lubricants in high-temperature conditions; I hope you can share your insights. Many greases available on the market are labeled as suitable for high-temperature use, but they don’t work at all once used – it’s false advertising.
Lubricant containing high-temperature molybdenum disulfide should work; our company has used it before.
Could you please tell us the specific brand and model? The molybdenum disulfide grease we purchased can only be used up to 160°C. Thank you
What bearings? Photos would be best.
Molybdenum disulfide doesn’t seem to work; its temperature resistance isn’t sufficient! Previously, for our heat transfer oil pumps at around 260°C, we used a type in a small bucket; I’ve forgotten its name.
Try Anzhi Chemical’s Red Moly Super or similar
One cannot consider only temperature; speed and load also need to be taken into account.
1. For damper adjustment, the bearing load should be quite low, right? 2. Have you tried moving the bearings outward and increasing air cooling? 3. Bearings in high-temperature valves/high-temperature fans face such problems; structural adjustments are one of the main solutions to address this issue
