Recently, I saw members of the forum sharing information on the latest, largest, and most powerful equipment, so I’ve found some old information on pump systems to share with everyone: ● Bucket pump: The bucket pump was first mentioned in \"Mozi·Beichengmen\" under the name \"Jiē Gāo\"; it’s commonly known as a \"sling rod\" or \"weighing rod\". It is an irrigation tool that makes use of the principle of levers. A heavy object is hung at the end, while a bucket is hung at the front end; it functions like a lever, and by moving up and down, water can be drawn with less effort. In simple terms, it is supported or suspended by a vertical rod in the middle of its horizontal bar; one end of the horizontal bar is connected to a pumping device using a straight rod, while the other end has a heavy stone tied to it or suspended from it. ● Archimedes’ screw pump: Invented by Archimedes in 200 BC, it uses a screw to lift water; its principle is the same as that of modern screw pumps. It is considered one of the greatest inventions in history and is still used today in both industrialized countries and developing nations to pump liquids and granular solids. In these regions, it is the preferred method for irrigating fields without electricity. ● Plunger pump: In 1675, the British inventor and mathematician Sir Samuel Morland applied for a patent for a plunger pump; his pump was likely the first to use a piston rod and packing gland to discharge water. ● Centrifugal pump: In 1687, the French-born inventor Denis Papin invented the first true centrifugal pump. ● Two-blade pump: In the 5th century, the Portuguese created wooden two-blade pumps, which were the precursor to modern centrifugal pumps.
