The slurry pump (GLZ100-65-450) in my workshop tripped due to overcurrent when operating under load. The motor’s rated current is 70; under load (with the outlet valve closed), it can reach 110, but the motor shuts down after operating for about ten seconds. When running with the pump but without load, the current is only 40, and the current during no-load testing is 20. The motor works fine when installed on other pumps; it’s not a problem with the motor. No signs of mechanical wear were found upon disassembling the pump. I’m asking if it’s related to the intake port? Are there any other reasons that could cause this situation?
The first thing to consider is whether the pump outlet flow is too high, or if there is internal leakage in the outlet valve. Next, check whether the overcurrent protection setting of the electrical appliance is too low. Also, check whether the installation clearance of the pump is too small. For reference.
It has nothing to do with the inlet; it is related to the opening degree of the outlet valve. First, check whether the rated current can achieve the rated flow rate Is the current at the rated flow rate an overload? If all the possible causes of normal overload have been checked, then examine the diameter of the impeller – determine whether it has been repaired or replaced, and whether the newly installed impeller has a larger diameter. Or friction at the rotating parts causes overcurrent.
With the outlet valve closed, the load is 0 and the current should be at its minimum. It is recommended to check the shaft power of the pump to determine whether the motor power meets the requirements
