This marks a \"breakthrough from scratch\" in the field of electricity generation using residual pressure in high-pressure natural gas transmission pipelines in China. Shenmu Group Co., Ltd. provided for this project the core equipment it developed independently – expansion generator sets – which can operate stably under extreme conditions of 15 MPa high pressure and a flow rate of 30,000 standard cubic meters per day. These systems convert the otherwise wasted pressure energy used for pressure regulation into 3 million kWh of clean electricity per year. This not only delivers a green benefit to customers in the form of \"zero-carbon power generation and gas supply\", but also fills the technical gaps in related applications in China, helping to advance the domestic natural gas differential pressure power generation industry to a new stage characterized by full compatibility across all applications and complete autonomy throughout the production chain. Natural gas surplus pressure power generation is a green and low-carbon technology. Its principle involves recovering the surplus pressure of natural gas transported through pipelines to city distribution stations, converting this pressure potential energy into mechanical energy, which in turn drives the expansion generator set to rotate and produce clean electricity. In the past, this amount of pressure energy was wasted outright; now, Shengyu’s expanders capture it and convert it into electricity – without burning any gas or generating any pollution, while also reducing carbon dioxide emissions by over 2,000 tons per year. Faced with world-class technical challenges posed by extreme operating conditions such as high pressure with zero leakage and extremely low flow rates, SHENGU formed a dedicated team for pipeline networks, bringing together experts from various fields to work together on overcoming these technical difficulties. The project faces three main challenges: first, the extremely high pressure poses a severe test to the strength of the equipment ; Secondly, at extremely low gas flow rates, the flow channels of its core impeller are as thin as hair strands, which imposes extreme demands on design and manufacturing precision ; Third, it is necessary to balance overall efficiency and operational reliability under harsh conditions. To this end, the team optimized the core design through precise simulations, improved the performance of key components using innovative 3D printing techniques, and conducted comprehensive system analysis and optimization, ultimately overcoming the technical barriers. It not only ensures the stable operation of the equipment under extreme conditions, but also achieves a significant improvement in both efficiency and reliability, transforming the previously wasted pressure energy into a continuous supply of green electricity.
