If the primary seal fails, the process gas will leak into the flare; then what safety function does the secondary seal gas serve?
Prevent the leaked gas from entering the air behind it
The secondary seal functions as an auxiliary seal; in the event of a leak at the primary level, the leaking gas triggers flow and pressure alarms. The secondary seal can also provide short-term protection to prevent toxic or flammable materials from escaping and contaminating the environment or causing harm to people.
