Why is the part functioning normally despite being in such condition?

During the major overhaul and disassembly of the multi-stage pump, it was found that the thrust disc was loose, and the thrust bearings on the non-driving end as well as the radial shaft bearings had severe wear on both the upper and lower parts. Yet the equipment continued to operate normally in its daily use – why?
The early monitoring system was not sensitive, but it reached a certain balance later on.
How to define normal operation – or is it due to inadequate routine inspections?

The instruments aren’t sensitive enough, or the values you observe on a daily basis are quite high, so not enough attention is paid to them. Leaving vibration and displacement aside, at least the temperature should be noticeable, right?
It’s impossible for the device to be working properly, as can be seen from the picture. There are no instrument interlock detection points, no remote transmission; it’s useless anyway
