This seems to be an external-heating rotary kiln with chain drive; in my opinion, the main challenge lies in the dynamic sealing.
The protruding part has not yet given an answer. The protruding part comes from the kiln at the beginning of the kiln system; it consists of three main components. One of these is the air preheating jacket, which is used for energy savings. Another component are the external heat heating tubes and annular tubes – the tubes are used for distributing heat, while the annular tubes are used for distributing and collecting fluids such as steam, heat transfer oil, or molten salt (sodium nitrite:potassium nitrate = 1; 1. There is also a roller belt, or rolling ring, as well as idler belts, which are used to support the rotary kiln and bear its loads. Below are the idler wheels, brake wheels, reducer, and motor; the central tube serves as the heating element outlet, while the rectangular tube is used for smoke exhaust. The design of the support legs is rather inadequate – significant adjustment and expansion space is needed in both the front and rear directions. This is my personal opinion; please do not copy it. Compared to external-heating rotary kilns, internal-heating rotary kilns differ in the way in which heating is achieved. Internal-heating kilns use direct heat radiation and heat convection for heat transfer, while external-heating kilns rely on convective heat transfer. As a result, the heat sources used are different. Internal-heating kilns require relatively simple conditions for operation; they can be fueled by bituminous coal or coke, as well as heavy oil, diesel, natural gas, gas (such as coke oven gas, blast furnace gas, and water gas – either cold or hot), various gases produced in refineries, etc., as well as pyrolysis gas. Compared to internal-heating kilns, external-heating kilns are more environmentally friendly, but their heat transfer efficiency is lower, and the materials processed are not contaminated, unless higher standards are required. As mentioned earlier regarding external heat sources, electric heating is also an option if there is sufficient electricity available.
