Shenmu Group signed a contract for three units for the 1.8 million tons per year ethylene production facility in the Sino-Saudi Ghulay project. Recently, Shenmu Group entered into an agreement with China National Offshore Oil Engineering Co., Ltd. regarding the three units needed for the 1.5 million tons per year ethylene production facility and its associated downstream processing units in the Ghulay project. The capacity of this facility can reach 1.8 million tons per year, and once completed it will become the largest ethylene production facility in the world. The Zhongsha Gulu Ethylene Project is located in the Gulu Petrochemical Base, one of China’s seven major petrochemical bases. It is being developed by Fujian Zhongsha Petrochemical Co., Ltd., a joint venture established in March 2022 by Fujian Energy & Petrochemical Group and Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC). The total investment in the project amounts to approximately 44.8 billion RMB. This project represents another milestone in SABIC’s development history in China, following the commercial operation of the newly built polycarbonate plant by Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) and Zhongsha (Tianjin) Petrochemical Co., Ltd. (SSTPC) in 2023. The project is expected to be completed in 2026 and will include an ethylene steam cracking unit with mixed feed, as well as a range of world-class downstream production facilities for products such as ethylene glycol, polyethylene, polypropylene, polycarbonate, and others; the annual ethylene production capacity is expected to reach up to 1.8 million tons ； It not only meets the market and customers’ demand for high-end chemical products, but also creates more investment opportunities downstream in the industrial chain. The successful signing of the contract for the three ethylene compressors for the China-Saudi Arabia Gulang Ethylene Project by Shenyang Blower Group signifies that the company’s manufacturing track record for compressors used in ethylene plants will officially increase from 1.5 million tons to 1.8 million tons. Shenyang Blower Group will thus become one of the few compressor suppliers worldwide with proven capabilities in designing and manufacturing compressors for 1.8-million-ton ethylene plants. Since producing the first set of 1 million-ton ethylene compressors in 2011, SHENGU Group has reached milestones of 1.2 million tons, 1.4 million tons, 1.5 million tons, and 1.8 million tons in terms of the capacity of such compressors. Through continuous innovation in technology, the company has kept breaking through the limitations associated with compressors and related equipment used in ethylene production facilities, thereby providing powerful \"Chinese-made components\" for large-scale ethylene plants in China.
