I saw in Shengyu’s documentation that there are submerged and direct-feed types; what is the difference in the lubricating oil used within these bearings, and are there any drawings that show this difference?
The tilting pad bearings in Shenmu centrifugal compressors generally have two lubrication methods: immersion type and direct supply type. 1. **Submerged lubrication**: In this method, the bearing is partially or completely submerged in an oil pool, and the lubricating oil in the pool is lifted by the rotation of the bearing to form an oil film. Lubricating oil is brought to the contact surface through the rotation of the bearing itself, and it is suitable for bearings that are not subject to particularly high speeds or loads. 2. **Direct supply lubrication**: In this method, oil is pumped directly to the lubrication points of the bearings through an oil station. This method allows for more precise control over the oil flow rate and pressure; it is particularly suitable for bearing lubrication under high-speed and high-load conditions. The differences in lubricant filling inside bearings lie mainly in the following: Submersion lubrication relies on the physical relationship between the oil reservoir and the bearing, as well as the rotation of the bearing, to supply oil automatically. - In the direct supply type, oil is supplied directly to the surface of the shaft by external force (such as an oil pump), allowing for a more effective and stable control of the lubrication condition; it is particularly suitable for high-load and high-speed operating environments.
