Do rupture disks need to be replaced at a specific time? What are the general usage guidelines?
"The regulations are clear: generally every 2 to 3 years, in special cases it needs to be replaced annually, and it should be replaced immediately if there are any problems.
If it were me, would I need to replace it even if there’s no problem? I know the tolerance specifications!
The regulatory requirements are mandatory; the rupture disc must be replaced when its service life is up. The absence of problems on the surface does not mean that there are no issues with the internal diaphragm or the surfaces in contact with the material
The general service life of a burst disc is one year, but this is not absolute and can vary. If the pressure fluctuations are large, it causes more damage to the rupture disc; in such cases, it needs to be replaced more frequently. Some can be used for a few years without any problems. However, affected by metal fatigue, the burst disc will only rupture earlier, not later.
Due to the effects of fatigue or corrosion, the rupture disc may burst at lower pressures, affecting the use of the storage tank; therefore, it must be replaced within the specified time frame
