A silo of DN3000 size is to be built, with a 60-degree cone bottom. Can cones be rolled from NM400 sheet (10mm thick)? I checked its properties; it has a high carbon content, and its elongation after fracture is only 10% (Q235B–25%?) ). Those with practical precedents, please reply. Thank you!

Is there any more detailed information available? For example, the material name and particle size, steel plate thickness, cylinder diameter, etc. This is because wear-resistant steel plates have high Brinell hardness and high tensile strength. However, there is no yield strength value, and the steel plate is not subjected to bending tests; it is generally used only as wear-resistant linings. On the one hand, there is the issue of strength calculation; on the other hand, it has to be used to withstand complex stresses, and there are concerns about potential problems. Because the cones can bear dozens or even hundreds of tons of weight. Thank you.

NM steel does not require a cold bending test, but for rolling purposes, some customers request a cold bending test to be included in the contract when ordering steel plates. However, the bend radius must be discussed carefully with the manufacturer; a too small bend radius will not be accepted by the steel plant.
