Under what circumstances must pressure vessel manufacturers retest materials upon their arrival at the factory?
It is specified in the manufacturing section of GB150.
It is mentioned on page 322, section 5.1.1 of GB150
The requirements for re-inspection of materials are specified in Article 5.1 of GB150.4. Materials that meet this criterion must be retested. Furthermore, if the user requests a re-inspection of the materials, the manufacturing unit shall also conduct the re-inspection.
Re-inspection is required when any of the following 4 conditions are met: 1. Re-inspection is mandated by Clause 5.1.1 of GB/T150.4, such as for Class III pressure vessels using Grade IV forgings； 2. The design documents require re-inspection, such as for pressure components used in important equipment like hydrogenation reactors ； 3. The manufacturer’s quality assurance procedure documents require re-inspection for valuable materials such as nickel-based alloys ； 4. The technical documents for procurement and acceptance by the manufacturer require re-inspection, such as the additional requirements imposed by quality assurance engineers on suppliers providing goods for the first time. The specific items for retesting and the acceptable criteria shall be determined by the unit or department that requests the retest.
