The part circled in red in the diagram is an accessory of the thermal siphon reboiler; I’m not sure what it is. I’d appreciate some guidance from those who know more. Thank you!
The drawings are too detailed; first, it’s necessary to understand the general process pipeline flow.
This is a conventional reboiler at the bottom of a distillation column, with a heat source of 0.35 MPa steam.
The outlet of the reboiler heated by steam is usually a condensate tank; there is a level control valve at the outlet of this tank to regulate its liquid level. The vapor present at the top of the condensate tank returns to the steam pipeline at the reboiler inlet for reuse, thereby saving energy.
What was said on the fourth floor is correct; it should be a condensate tank, not in the form shown in the diagram. I’ve used one before, and it wasn’t very effective actually
I’d like to ask gently: since flow control is already in place and a condensate tank is being used, why not use a steam trap instead?

The subsequent control valve is used to regulate the level in the condensate tank. But as far as I remember, this tank is basically full – there’s too much condensate
Regardless of the level of the condensate tank, meeting the heating requirements is the top priority. When the condensate tank is full, it is because the load under which the system operates is too low, or the reboiler selected is too large.
