For example, in stainless steel, 304, 304L, 316, and 316L all refer to austenitic stainless steels; the 400 series is rarely used. I’m not sure
Does the 400 series refer to ferritic stainless steel, martensitic stainless steel, or both?
The 300 series are austenitic stainless steels, while the 400 series are mostly annealed ferritic stainless steels.
