1. There are two common types of welds used for the skirt and head, as shown in the attached drawings; which of these two configurations achieves full penetration? Is it still not considered fully welded? Why? 2. In HG/T20583-2011, do G1 and G23 in the weld structure table represent fully penetrated structures? Why?
In my personal opinion, all of these 4 structures are considered full-penetration structures.
The original poster is really thorough, waiting patiently for an answer; but it seems that complete welding shouldn’t be avoided
The first two are equipment welding methods, which fall under full penetration welding; The last two are fillet welds in the structure that are not fully penetrated
Agree with the explanation on floor 4; the last two probably weren’t welded thoroughly, while the one at the skirt base should have been welded thoroughly.
a refers to the welding method of the equipment, and it belongs to the through-welding type; G1 and G23 are fillet welds in the structure that are not fully penetrated.
Personally, I think full penetration isn’t necessarily guaranteed; it depends on the dimensions of the structural material
