We currently have a stainless steel reactor, with a 304 material for the inner lining and a Q235B material for the jacket. The question now is whether it’s possible to circulate a cryogenic fluid at -50°C directly inside the jacket.
Q235B can be used in temperature ranges above 0°C. I just want to use it now; I’m not sure how great the risks are

There is certainly still a risk; the operating temperature for Q235B is 0–350 degrees Celsius, and generally no tests such as low-temperature impact tests are conducted on this material. Although Q235B is not a low-temperature steel and its performance in low temperatures is not guaranteed, it does not mean that it will definitely fail under such conditions. Moreover, especially for welded structures, the issue of low-temperature brittleness should be taken into consideration. The level of risk depends on each party’s own capacity to bear it, such as jacket damage or coolant leakage? The reaction vessel is damaged and its use has been suspended; will the medium become unusable? The device is no longer in production? ? ? -50°C is relatively quite challenging for Q235B; it is estimated that temperatures between -20 and -30°C would be more manageable. I don’t want this either; I’m just wondering if there might be a problem, that’s why I asked, hoping to get a relatively definite answer

I had intended to take the risk, but now I’ve decided not to; I’ll just use the previous cryogenic reactor
