Problems with on-site commissioning of shallow sand filters

I have been working with shallow sand filters for many years, and I’d like to share some of my insights: First, let’s talk about the shortcomings. In the field of circulating water, there are many uncontrollable factors – such as wind and sand in the environment surrounding open towers, as well as the quality of water supplied by the owners – all of which can affect the turbidity of the water coming out of the filters. Many owners don’t understand this; they assume that once the filters are put into use, the water quality will immediately deteriorate. I’ve had to explain this countless times on-site, and some people accept it while others don’t, haha. 2. Due to the high flow rate, it requires less space, can handle large volumes of water, and has lower investment costs; as a result, its treatment efficiency is lower than that of quartz sand filters. This is why it works less effectively. Additionally, when the amount of foreign impurities exceeds the filter’s daily removal capacity, the filter’s ability to produce clean water is reduced, so it is necessary for the owner to take proper measures to protect against external contaminants. 3. There are issues with the valves built into the filters themselves; to cut costs, manufacturers use two-position three-way valves. Such valves present quality risks, and it is very difficult and troublesome to maintain them. Pneumatic or electric valves are recommended, but this isn’t possible due to cost considerations. It’s hard to determine which valve is open or not fully closed, so all the clamps have to be removed for inspection, which makes the process quite labor-intensive. 4. Of course, there are many uncontrollable issues on site; each issue needs to be analyzed individually. 5. Finally, in order to make a living, I left my job in 2014 and started my own company, Wuxi Linghang Filtration Equipment Co., Ltd. Due to limited capabilities, we only manufacture shallow sand filters. 6. Over the years since the factory was established, there have been losses, deceits, and various hardships – it’s hard to describe them all in words. Many things can only be understood by experiencing them firsthand. Finally, I wish all my friends success in everything they do.
