For ordinary 245R carbon steel equipment, where the seams of categories A and B in the cylinder require 20% RT testing, is surface non-destructive testing necessary for the seams of category C in the flat welding flanges? I heard from the experienced workers in our factory that it needs to be done, but I couldn’t find any basis for this in GB150 or the relevant regulatory standards. I’m asking everyone: is it really necessary to do it? Thank you all first

I mainly want to check the latest regulations regarding this. It seems that the new standard is now NB/T47013; JB/T4730 is probably rarely used these days
NB/T47020 specifies this requirement for pressure vessel flanges, but it is not required for pipe flanges.

Do you mean there is such a requirement for the equipment flanges? Don’t ordinary takeover flanges need to be machined?

Regarding pipe flanges, they should be designed in accordance with the equipment itself; you can take a closer look at the chapter on surface inspection in GB150, and also consider the relevant requirements outlined in the major standards.
