How to measure the outer diameter, inner diameter, and wall thickness of a container, as well as those of the pipes attached to it?
How to measure? There isn’t a ruler that big
Wall thickness can be measured with a thickness gauge, and diameter can be measured with a distance meter.
For small ones, measure them directly; for those that are too large, check the labels, consult the drawings, and obtain the data from the engineering department
1. Check the drawings; this is the most accurate method, as it even specifies the materials used； 2. If it is confirmed to be a single layer, a thickness gauge can be used ； 3. If none of those options work, then the only choice is to use a ruler for measurement. It’s not a very large container, so the diameter can be measured using a tape measure; for very large containers, a laser distance meter is used.
Measure the perimeter of the circle, determine the wall thickness, and calculate the inner diameter (for devices that cannot be accessed from the inside)
Thickness gauge: measure the perimeter of the outer edge of the diameter, then perform the conversion; the diameter is usually rounded off to an integer value
