Design pressure: Inner cylinder: 0.33 MPa, Jacket: 0.54 MPa. Design temperature: Inner cylinder: 600°C, Jacket: 154°C. Medium: Inner cylinder: Hydrogen sulfide, nitrogen; Jacket: Saturated steam. Material: Inner cylinder: S30408, Jacket: Q345R. Equipment dimensions: Inner cylinder DN1000×1200, Jacket: DN1100 (as shown in the diagram). Is it reasonable to use S30408 for this equipment at such temperatures? What considerations should be taken into account in the design of this device? Thank you!
According to GB150.2, clause 3.6.3: When austenitic steel is used at temperatures above 525°C, its carbon content must be at least 0.04% (to avoid brittleness at 475°C) – this point needs attention; in other words, it is better not to use such steel, based on personal interpretation

S30408 can be used. Suggestions: 1. Add gaskets between the jacket and the inner cylinder; 2. Provide sliding supports for the C tube; 3. Ensure the upper part of the internal components is firmly fixed (on the same circumference as tube B); 4. The thickness of the inner cylinder can be reduced appropriately; 5. It is advisable to specify the minimum thickness of the inner cylinder as well as the inspection points (in accordance with the requirements for equipment without inspection holes)

At 600°, S30408 is prone to intergranular corrosion; it’s better not to use it
It is best to use S30409 (304H); 347H is also acceptable
