What are the standards for ASME tube box gaskets?

What size are the tube box flanges? If the tube box flanges are standard, such as pipe flanges or equipment flanges, then gaskets specified in the standards for pipe flanges/equipment flanges should be used. If it is a non-standard flange, then one can only refer to the gasket standards.

Don’t listen to his nonsense – ASME does not have any standards for such auxiliary components; it’s usually enterprise standards or custom ones that are used. In the case of shell and tube flange gaskets, what affects the calculations are only the gasket coefficient and specific pressure, which are characteristic parameters whose values remain constant for a given type of gasket. Dimensions, on the other hand, affect the point of application and the effective sealing width; the specific inner and outer diameter values can be determined entirely by the designer. It’s also possible to use national standard dimensions as a reference. ASME offers more flexibility in this regard

ASME also offers large-diameter flanges, which can be used as equipment flanges; there is nothing wrong with referring to them in the design process, and they can even be used directly as equipment flanges. The person on the 2nd floor replied that standard flanges should use standard gaskets, while for non-standard flanges, one should refer to the standards for gaskets. Is that answer not good enough? It was a helpful suggestion after all; yet they called it nonsense. In another post, it was said that obtaining certification relies on connections and luck. The Certification Committee holds at least 2 exams for the certification every year, with 400 candidates taking each exam; around 240 of them pass, so approximately 500 people manage to obtain the certification per year. Is it all because of connections with the examiners? Who preparing for an exam doesn’t read books, do practice questions, and take the exam seriously? For each exam, there are costs such as registration fees, accommodation fees, and travel expenses – in total around 10,000 yuan. Some people even have to pay out of their own pocket to take the exam; money is really hard to come by. .
