Boiler drums need to be able to withstand high temperatures and pressures; what materials are generally used for this purpose?
Different boilers are made of different materials: medium-pressure boilers, high-pressure boilers, low-pressure boilers
The appropriate material depends specifically on pressure, temperature, and diameter.
High pressure in the boiler’s drum corresponds to high temperature; refer to the rules for selecting metal plates outlined in TSG11
The pressure varies, and so does the material; furthermore, the material used for boiler tubes is not necessarily suitable for making steam drums
