Is the head loss of a device calculated as the pressure difference between its inlet and outlet? I would appreciate some guidance from an expert.
Head loss is equivalent to pressure loss; during the transportation of fluids, these fluids have to travel over long distances, through various pipes, fittings, valves, etc. All of these elements create resistance to the flow of the fluid, resulting in pressure losses. For example, a pump has two important parameters: flow rate and head. The head refers to the pressure required to transport the fluid; only when this pressure is greater than the resistance in the pipeline, that is, when the head is greater than the head loss, can the fluid be transported properly.
