Is it acceptable to use a design life of 20 years for general pressure vessels? What needs to be considered. Normally, corrosion margin is not considered over a period of 10 years; for material 304, what needs to be taken into account after 20 years?
It is okay to use 20 years. The corrosion margin ÷ corrosion rate must be ≥ 20.
Although the specifications require specifying the design service life of the equipment, it is merely a number; generally, the design service life for ordinary equipment is 10 years, while it is longer for critical equipment. For the specific duration, refer to HG/T20580-2011.
This mainly depends on the owner’s requirements; the service life of the equipment is considered in conjunction with its overall investment and the lifespan of the production facilities.

0 is taken when there is no corrosion. 10 years, 20 years – no problem. In such situations, design and manufacturing units generally choose 10 years. And the units of use should all be written out in full. It’s just a matter of standing from different perspectives (with different interests).
