I would like to ask everyone: in pressure pipeline work, plugging leaks while the pipeline is under pressure requires a D2 certificate, while sealing it while under pressure requires a D3 certificate. What is the difference between pressure-based leak plugging and pressure-based sealing here? Both are used to deal with leaks, so why are there two separate certifications?
The applicable temperatures for the two are similar; the range of media for which they can be used is slightly broader in terms of pressure-based leak sealing compared to pressure-based sealing, and it includes highly corrosive media.
