As the title suggests, it is a heat exchanger used to cool hot concentrated sulfuric acid. What suggestions do you have regarding its design and material selection? Please share your opinions. Would the S31008 material be sufficient to meet the requirements?
For heat exchangers used to cool heated concentrated sulfuric acid, plate or shell-and-tube heat exchangers are recommended, as both types offer high heat exchange efficiency and reliability. Regarding material selection, since concentrated sulfuric acid is a highly corrosive substance, it is recommended to use materials with good corrosion resistance. S31008 (also known as 310S stainless steel) is an austenitic stainless steel that contains a high proportion of chromium and nickel; it boasts excellent oxidation and corrosion resistance, and can maintain good physical properties even at high temperatures. For environments dealing with high-temperature concentrated sulfuric acid, S31008 can meet most of the application requirements. However, in practical applications, specific operating conditions such as temperature, pressure, and sulfuric acid concentration must also be taken into account to ensure that the material can withstand these conditions without being damaged. In summary, S31008 is a good choice, but the final decision should be based on a detailed analysis of operating conditions and professional material evaluation. .
S31008 will corrode; it is recommended to use 904L or Hastelloy, depending on your operating environment
