There is a lack of weld metal in the reinforcement ring of the heat exchanger nozzle; is it necessary to carry out additional welding?
It looks like stainless steel; after the cracks are removed, welding repairs will definitely be necessary. But why seal off the signal holes? Was it an operational error or some other issue?
Is it made of stainless steel? Can stainless steel be inspected using magnetic particle testing? Welding repair is definitely necessary after crack removal. The signal hole may have been welded shut after a leak was detected.

It’s not stainless steel; it’s a heat exchanger with silver paint. After the cracks were removed, there is a gap in the weld between the reinforcement ring and the cylinder body. Is it possible to avoid welding there and just use it as an exhaust vent?
If the root depth of the Class D weld here is sufficient and the notch length is less than 10 mm, I believe no repair welding is necessary; it can be used as a vent.
The gap length is 30 mm. Is that acceptable?
Following the approach used for steel reinforcement rings, I personally think it is feasible.
Are you sure those 30 mm between the reinforcement ring and the housing are separated? I don’t believe it. . .
A reinforcement ring is not the same as an ordinary gasket; a section should not be left unwelded as an exhaust hole. Any cracked areas need to be repaired, and the inspection holes must be restored. Looking at the diagram, I remember a detail: the inspection hole should be placed at the lowest point.
After grinding away these 30 mm cracks, the thickness of the base weld became very thin.
